Collins Residence Hall
Collins Residence Hall, first occupied in 1985, is named after William Avery Collins (’61), a major University benefactor. While a student, Mr. Collins was pledge master at Delta Sigma Pi fraternity, in which his brothers included All-American and future NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Norm Snead (’62). Collins also competed in track and field and played in the band. In 1994, he established a $2.1 million scholarship fund for students from his native Virginia. The dragon on the building crest honors the Collins family crest, which features a dragon of its own. Learn more about this hall here.
Famous Alumni: Tim Duncan (’97), multiple NBA All-Star and Olympic medalist, and Bill Haas (’04), winner of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup in 2011, are on the Collins all-time roster.
FACULTY FELLOWS
Brian Warren
Senior Faculty Fellow
Associate Teaching Professor, Department of Classics
Brian (he/him) teaches ancient Greek and Latin language and literature. Ask him about his short-term study abroad trip to Greece this past May. He grew up in Cincinnati and lived in New York City, Baltimore, St. Louis, and Memphis before he moved to Winston-Salem. If he hadn’t become a classicist, he probably would have been a swim coach.
Megan Manassah Associate Faculty Fellow
Assistant Teaching Professor, Department of Economics
Megan’s (she/her) research interests are poverty, inequality and the economics of gender. She has an amazing wife and two kids. Megan is from South Florida and regularly tries to recreate its glorious humidity at Aware Hot Yoga Studio.
Rebekah Morris
Associate Faculty Fellow
Professor of the Practice, Department of Spanish
Rebekah (she/her) is a WFU alumna excited to meet new Deacs. She is passionate about study abroad because seeing the world from a different perspective is essential for a complete education. She enjoys random trips to offbeat places (ask her road trips to see sights such as the world’s tallest fork), paint-by-number (new pandemic hobby), cheese dip, dark chocolate in any form, and playing with her cat.
A computational biophysicist, Fred (he/him) grew up in many different places as an Army brat. He enjoys playing trivia games — though he is not the go-to guy for pop culture or sports. He also enjoys the world and wordle-variants craze. At home, he enjoys cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.
